Frequently asked questions
What is The Reserve at Sunset Horizon?
We're a six-resident residential assisted living home in Denton, Texas a real house in a real neighborhood, not a large facility. We're opening in 2026, pending licensure by Texas Health and Human Services as a Type B assisted living facility. Type B means we're equipped for residents who need hands-on help with daily living, staff attendance overnight, and assistance evacuating in an emergency.
Who is the right fit for your home?
Seniors who need regular help with daily living because of a physical or cognitive condition things like bathing, dressing, mobility, medications, and meals. As part of admission, your loved one's physician documents their condition and care needs, which also helps us build the right service plan from day one. During our first conversation, we'll talk through your parent's needs honestly and tell you whether we're the right fit.
Can you care for someone with memory loss or dementia?
Many of our future residents will be living with some degree of memory loss, and our home and routines are designed with that reality in mind consistent caregivers, calm surroundings, and predictable days. Texas requires a specific certification for a home to advertise dedicated memory care services; we'll share our certification status with you directly, and we'll always be honest about whether we can safely meet your loved one's specific needs.
What does it cost?
Our pricing is a single monthly rate based on care level, and it includes room, meals, personal care, medication support, housekeeping, and laundry no surprise add-ons. We will walk you through exactly what your loved one's rate would be after a care assessment. We're private pay; we're glad to talk through how families typically fund care, including long-term care insurance and VA Aid & Attendance benefits.
What happens if my parent's needs increase over time?
We adapt the service plan as needs change, and we coordinate with home health and hospice agencies who can bring additional services into the home. Texas licensing rules do set limits on the care an assisted living home can provide, if your loved one's needs ever grow beyond what we can safely and legally meet, we'll tell you early, honestly, and help you plan the next step. No surprises, no scrambling.
What is daily life like?
Unhurried. Mornings start when residents are ready, with breakfast cooked in the kitchen. Days include activities residents actually enjoy games, music, gardening, conversation, time outside and afternoons leave room for rest, hobbies, and visitors. Evenings wind down with personal care and familiar bedtime routines. Staff are present and awake around the clock.
How can families stay involved and connected?
You'll have the owners' direct number. We share regular updates, call you promptly about anything significant, and welcome visits anytime this is your parent's home, and you don't need an appointment to visit your parent at home.
When are you opening, and how do I reserve a spot?
We're opening in Fall 2026, pending state licensure. We're accepting a small number of founding families now. Founding residents receive first choice of rooms and a locked founding rate. Join the founding family list through our contact page or call us, and we'll keep you posted on our progress and timeline.
How are you regulated?
Assisted living homes in Texas are licensed and inspected by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Once licensed, our license, inspection history, and the Resident's Bill of Rights will be available to every family, and required disclosures are part of our admission process. We'd rather over-share than have you wonder.
